NBA suspends 11 players from Magic-Pistons brawl

Detroit guard Killian Hayes and Orlando’s Moritz Wagner were each suspended for multiple games for their roles in a brawl, while the NBA suspended eight Magic players one game each on Thursday for coming off the bench during an altercation .

Hayes, who hit Wagner in the back of the head, received a three-game suspension without pay. Wagner was banned for two games and the Pistons’ Hamidou Diallo was suspended for one game by NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars – the former star player and manager of the Pistons.

The fallout from the game in Detroit on Wednesday night was so great that Magic player suspensions will be staggered so they have enough players available to play their next game.

Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton, Gary Harris, Kevon Harris, Admiral Schofield, Franz Wagner, Mo Bamba and Wendell Carter Jr. have all been suspended for one game.

Wagner checked Hayes off the Detroit bench to start the altercation. Hayes got up and punched him in the back, and Wagner appeared to be briefly knocked unconscious.

The Magic players then rushed off their bench, worried about their teammate.
