Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Nate Morris suggested the Nobel Peace Prize be renamed after President Donald Trump when he announced that Israel and Hamas had “signed the first phase” of a peace plan.

“President Trump not only deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for getting this deal across the finish line, they should rename the damn thing in his honor,” Morris said in a 2017 article on X. answer to Trump’s post on Truth Social.

Morris’ statement came after Trump revealed in a social media post that “Israel and Hamas have both signed the first phase” of a peace plan. Trump also noted that this meant that “ALL hostages would be released very soon and Israel would withdraw its troops along an agreed line as a first step toward a strong, lasting and everlasting peace.”

“All parties will be treated fairly!” » Trump added in his message. “This is a GREAT day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all surrounding nations and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event happen.”

In a post on X, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed that it was a “great day for Israel,” and thanked Trump and his administration “from the depths” of his heart “for mobilizing for this sacred mission of freeing” the remaining hostages.

“Tomorrow I will convene the government to approve the deal and bring all our beloved hostages home,” Netanyahu said. “I thank the heroic IDF soldiers and all security forces, thanks to whose courage and sacrifice we have reached this day. I thank from the bottom of my heart President Trump and his team for mobilizing for this sacred mission to free our hostages.”

The Times of Israel reported that the ceasefire agreement could be signed in Egypt on Thursday.
