The highest mountain in the world was struck by an unexpected storm.
Nearly 1,000 hikers were blocked on Mont Everest when a huge blizzard ravaged the eastern slope of the range in Tibet this weekend, according to Chinese state media.
Since then, around 350 people have managed to go safely to the Tibetan city of Qudang, although the rescuers have declared that there were still hundreds of hikers on the slope which “will gradually arrive at the meeting point”, reported CCTV of the state diffuser.
Aside from spring, fall is the season during which climbers generally evolve Mont Everest – which is about 29,032 feet above sea level – on optimal weather conditions. The hikers traditionally reach the summit through one of the two roads: the north pass in Tibet or the south pass in Nepal.
