According to initial information, the fire broke out around 4:20 a.m. behind the three-story building on Sherbrooke Street East, near Mousseau Street.

The flames quickly spread to the upper floors, forcing the evacuation of the occupants of the building.

Due to the significant damage caused to the apartments that they cannot return to for the moment, the victims have been taken care of by the Red Cross.

During the intervention, a firefighter suffered minor injuries that did not require transport to hospital, said a spokesperson for the Montreal Fire Department.

The fire was brought under control by the fifty firefighters mobilized on the occasion to fight the flames.

Although the cause of the fire is not known, the file is kept in the hands of SIM investigators, it was added.
