MLB reveals playoff schedule as World Series may end at last moment in history

Major League Baseball announced its playoff schedule on Monday with the potential for the World Series to be played on its last date in history.

The National League and American League Wild Card series will begin on October 7. The series will be best of three, with the winners moving into the surrounding division. The third game of the series will be played on October 9, if necessary. Games will be broadcast on ESPN, ABC and ESPN2.

In the new format, the top two teams in each league will earn byes to the Division Series. The third-best team will play the final wild-card team. The other two wild-card teams will face off.

FOX, FS1 and TBS will host the National League and American League Division Series. The first game of the Divisional Series will take place for both leagues on October 11. NLDS Game 5 will be on October 16 and ALDS Game 5 will be on October 17, if required.

FOX, FS1 and TBS will also broadcast the National League and American League Championship Series. The NLCS will start on October 18 and the ALCS will start on October 19. If the series is to go the distance, it will end on October 25 and 26, respectively.

FOX will host the World Series. Game 1 will be played on October 28 and Game 7 will be played on November 5. This is the 25th time FOX will broadcast the World Series.

The Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals are the last World Series champions.

Last year, the Braves’ six-game win over the Houston Astros ended on November 2. The coronavirus-affected 2020 season ended the World Series on October 27. .
