Microsoft stops increasing the prices of the Xbox Game Pass on certain markets

Microsoft suspends the price increases of its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription in some countries.

As The Verge reports, existing customers have received an email specifying that if they benefit from a recurrent package automatically, the price increase would not affect the current subscriptions.

Markets exempt from price increases include Germany, Ireland, South Korea, Poland and India.

The price changes in Xbox Game Pass subscriptions will affect new purchases in these territories.

If customers had to cancel or buy their package, they “will be billed at the new price in force”.

Microsoft has also noted that if changes were made to an existing account, users would be informed “at least 60 days in advance” to offer “the possibility of canceling or modifying” the subscription plans.

Kari Perez, head of Xbox communications, said that his “recent update of the Game Pass remains unchanged” outside these countries.

“Current subscribers in some countries will currently continue to renew at their current price, in accordance with local requirements,” continued Perez.

“We will provide notice before the price adjustments come into force in these countries.”

Earlier this month, Microsoft has announced price increases for certain Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

This included the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which increased from $ 19.99/£ 14.99 to $ 29.99/£ 22.99 per month.

Microsoft said that it “understands that price increases are never fun for anyone”, but that the company “tries to strengthen” its offers by “adding more value to these plans” in parallel with price increases.

In September, Microsoft announced that it would also increase the cost of its Xbox Series X | S consoles in the United States for the second time this year.
