Melissa McCarthy’s first sex conversation with her teenage daughter involves dog poo

Melissa McCarthy has revealed how the ‘birds and bees’ conversation with her teenage daughter took an awkward turn.
The « Bridesmaids » actress was a guest on Glennon Doyle’s podcast, « We Can Do Hard Things, » where she shared how she talks about sex and relationships with her daughters, Vivian, 15, and Georgette, 12.
« Like, we had the conversation, which I did incredibly awkwardly because I knew it was coming, » McCarthy explained. « I always thought, ‘I’m going to do it so soon because we’re open to anything and they can come to me for anything. But there’s still a former Midwestern Catholic who says, « Talk about sex and lightning strikes. »
McCarthy explained how, growing up in a religious family and attending a Catholic school, her personal sex education included « a lot about Mary and the Immaculate Conception. » So she hoped to be more open with her eldest daughter about sex before learning about it at school.
« So I just very awkwardly, just before [Vivian] went to school the day they were going to talk about it at school, I’m like, ‘I’m definitely not asking anyone else to start this conversation with my kid,’ McCarthy explained.
However, the comedic actress opted to broach the subject while she and Vivian picked up their dog’s poop in the garden – joking that it was « really a wonderful time » to strike up a conversation.
« Vivi just says, ‘Oh my God, is that happening?’ And I was like, ‘There’s different body parts be it…um,’ but at least I was just like, let me be goofy and get through it,” McCarthy shared.
Despite the unconventional start to her daughter’s sex education, McCarthy has made it a priority to promote healthy relationships for her two children.
« I think they know that as long as the person you’re with is incredibly nice and respectful and just lifts you up, » she said. “Let whoever your love is, and it can change and you don’t have to choose a side, you can choose a side, you don’t have to choose a side, you never know what’s going to happen. I said, ‘That person has to be incredibly happy when you succeed and incredibly supportive when you fail. And if those ever get changed, that’s the biggest red flag on earth and nothing should make you feel uncomfortable.
McCarthy shares her two daughters with her husband, Ben Falcone, whom she married in 2005. The famous couple have starred in several films such as ‘Identity Thief’, ‘The Heat’ and ‘Bridesmaids’.
