The Virginia Beach Democratic Committee reaffirmed His “full support” for Jones in a press release on October 4, 2025, describing recent coverage as “past errors” and claiming that Jones had “taken responsibility, apologized and showed that he is committed to serving with integrity and responsibility”. The Committee contrasts Jones with the Attorney General Jason Miyares, accusing him of not defending the concerns or values of the families of Virginia, defending the rights of reproduction of women and workers, or protecting Virginians in danger of losing access to health care.
Representative Eugene Vindman (D-VA) promoted Jones in an article on October 5 on X, encouraging Virginians to vote for “Democrats from top to bottom of the ballot”. Melody Cartwright delegate (D-48) poster“I stand with @jonesjay. Period. End of the declaration.”
Remakened comments have even more intensified Virginia’s political climate, already accused by the murder of the founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, last month and debate on political violence. Governor Youngkin said that Democrats “act as if (Jones’ comments) are nothing” and reiterate his call to Jones to “resign, resign and get out of the race”.
Jones has denied Coyner’s claims that he said that “more police should die” during a political debate in 2020, calling for false allegation and claiming that he never believed and does not believe that damages should come to the police. “
Monday evening, no democratic or individual organization listed among Jones’ endorships has canceled their support or issued public criticism. The election of the Virginia General Prosecutor will take place in less than a month.
