A 2020 McLaren 600 LT in total has been left on the side of the road in Washington state after its owner appeared ready to flee the luxury sports car worth more than $200,000.
The sleek and expensive coupe can reach speeds of up to 124 MPH in less than ten seconds, although it came to a stop after apparently crashing into a guardrail along State Road 512 near Tacoma, authorities say of Washington State.
The state police tweeted photos of the wrecked white McLaren early Tuesday morning and said troopers are investigating the hit-and-run accident.
When another Twitter user asked if there were any injuries, Cavalier Robert Reyer replied, “We are not sure. The driver fled!”
Photos show the car, which can cost north of $250,000, stuck under the guardrail with its driver’s side scissor door open.
Trooper John Dattilo told rhe Oregonian on Wednesday that authorities have not found the owner of the car, which can hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. It was towed Monday evening, according to the newspaper.
“These kind of accidents happen all the time, where people don’t want to get in trouble so they leave the car behind,” Dattilo told The Oregonian. “But it’s not necessarily common for it to be a $200,000 McLaren.”
The car, which still had dealer license plates, was not reported stolen and its registered owner lives in Washington, Dattilo said, according to the outlet.
