A Maryland man has been fatally shot by police after he launched a brutal knife attack on his parents, killing his father.

Three cops from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office shot the unidentified man as he rushed towards them early Tuesday morning, the Maryland Attorney General’s Office said.

Her sister called 911 at 2:10 a.m. saying her brother was attacking their parents, Sheriff Charles Jenkins told a news conference.

Police arrived at Frederick’s home to find an adult woman suffering « superficial » stab wounds inside. Her husband was found seriously injured on the street from the house and died shortly after being taken to an area hospital. The suspect’s sister was not injured.

Police found the man a few blocks from the house still carrying the gun.

Officers warned him to ‘drop the knife’ before a deputy threw a ‘less lethal shotgun’ at him, the AG revealed.

When the cops arrived they came across a gruesome crime scene where they found the mother injured inside the house and the father badly stabbed near the house.

“The suspect then quickly walked towards the officers,” officials said.

Several cops deployed their tasers and three discharged their firearms, killing the man in the street.

Authorities are still trying to piece together what happened at the family home early Tuesday morning.

“Inside the house was a very large crime scene. Pretty much throughout the house; upstairs in the ground floor,” Jenkins said.

There is no record of previous service calls for the family and the motive is still unknown, the chief said.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the domestic homicide, while the Maryland AG is investigating the shooting linked to the officer, 7News reported.

At least three officers have been placed on administrative leave while the state investigates the killing.

None of the officers who fired their weapons were wearing body cameras, but other officers were and recorded portions of the incident. The images could be released after two weeks.
