Maryland authorities are investigating fires and vandalism at several Bethesda churches

Two churches were set on fire and a third was vandalized in Bethesda, Maryland over the weekend, authorities said.
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning, authorities were called to North Bethesda United Methodist Church for vandalism and arson, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Pete Piringer said.
About 300 yards away, investigators also found damaged headstones and « broken pieces of wood » strewn around the Wildwood Baptist Church.

Then on Sunday morning, Montgomery County firefighters were called to Saint Jane Frances Catholic Church in Chantal, where several pews had been set on fire.
Damage was estimated at $50,000 to the Catholic church, which is about a mile from the other two churches that were vandalized, according to Fox 5 DC.
