Mark Sanchez, Fox sports analyst and former NFL quarter-rear, was now accused of a crime following a stabbing incident in Indianapolis during the weekend that injured her.
At a press conference on Monday with Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears and the head of the Indianapolis metropolitan police department, Chris Bailey, Mears announced that Sanchez was facing a level 5 battery, causing an accusation of serious bodily injuries. The new accusation has a potential sentence of up to six years in prison.
Sanchez was initially confronted with accusations of offense – for alleged battery with injury, illegal entry of a motor vehicle and public poisoning – but once they learned more about the victim’s current medical state, Mears said: “It has become clear that additional costs should be deposited.”
The Associated Press reported that a police affidavit alleys that Sanchez, feeling alcohol, approached aggressively with a 69-year-old truck driver who had retreated in the loading quays of a hotel in downtown Indianapolis. This would have led to a confrontation between them outside the vehicle around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, encouraging the truck driver to remove a knife to defend himself.
“We are literally talking about people who fight for a parking space and or a dispute in the place where people are parked, and that made someone received incredibly important injuries,” said Mears on Monday.
The Hollywood Reporter Previously, the two men had received medical treatment, with Fox Sports PR sharing Saturday later that Sanchez “was recovering in the hospital in a stable state”. He remained hospitalized on Monday morning.
The Associated Press said that the former quarter of the New York Jets had been pulverized and stabbed several times during the incident and that the truck driver was cut on his cheek, according to the judicial archives.
“It was a situation that didn’t need to happen,” added the prosecutor. “The allegations imply that a 38 -year -old man is involved in an altercation with a 69 -year -old man who suffered significant and very serious injuries following this altercation.”
The authorities do not share if the truck driver could also face charges.
THR contacted Fox Sports and the representatives of Sanchez to comment.
The broadcaster was in Indianapolis for the Sunday’s match between the colts and the Raiders of Las Vegas.
THR Recently, spoke with the wife of Sanchez, Perry Mattfeld, who features Glen Powell in the Sports-Comomedie series Chad Powers. At the time, she said that the former NFL player shared part of his professional information with writers in the show. “Mark was able to consult me a little on some of my lines,” said Mattfeld. “I have to give him credit; Some of his lines have succeeded in terms of improvisation or things he had given me.Laughter.) But he spent a little time in the writers room giving an overview not only of his career in the NFL, but also of the college. »»
