Man stabbed in Centre-Sud in Montreal: a man accused of attempted murder

MONTREAL — A 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with an assault with a gun that occurred last week in Montreal.

Donaldtelo Vilme was charged with attempted murder and criminal harassment at the Montreal courthouse the same day.

Vilme allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old man on October 6, near the intersection of Beaudry and Sainte-Catherine Est streets, in the Centre-Sud district.

The victim, who was walking with a friend around 7 p.m., was arrested by three individuals. According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the conflict quickly degenerated and that is when the victim was stabbed in the abdomen.

Police arrived at the scene following a 911 call, but the victim was no longer there. She was eventually located near the intersection of Frontenac and Rouen streets.

The 24-year-old was taken to hospital and survived his injuries.

The Forensic Identification Section and the canine squad cooperated closely in the police investigation that led to his arrest, says the SPVM.

The SPVM is still looking for the two other people who were with Vilme on the evening of October 6. Anyone with information is invited to contact 911 or anonymously on the infocrimemontreal.ca website.
