Man, 20, charged with 2nd degree murder after Banff stabbed outside bar

RCMP have charged John Proule, 20, of Lake Country, British Columbia – just north of Kelowna – with second degree murder following an early morning stabbing in Banff on Saturday.

Police said just after midnight on September 3, officers responded to an altercation call outside a bar on Banff Avenue. A 27-year-old male from Foothills County, Alberta. was stabbed to death outside a local bar in town.

A second man who was taken into custody has been released and not charged.

This is the second stabbing in Banff in less than a month, although police said the assault was unrelated to the Aug. 5 attack.
