Luis Echeverría, former president of Mexico, dies at 100

Former President Luis Echeverría, whose populist policies led Mexico to economic debacle and who was accused of being the mastermind of a student massacre while serving as interior minister who still haunts the country, died on Friday. He was 100 years old.

His death was confirmed on Saturday by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
