Joey Bosa of the Los Angeles Chargers suffered a torn groin during the first quarter of their 38-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday.

« It’s a big loss for our defense, » safety Derwin James Jr. told ESPN. But it’s our responsibility to guard the fort while he’s gone. »

Bosa will have to go under the knife. Head coach Brandon Staley, however, assured that he could return to play before the end of the season.

“It will take time, but we expect to see him again, he revealed. He is optimistic and ready to attack this challenge. He is in excellent spirits. It’s never easy to suffer an injury like that. »

Aged 27, Bosa has excelled since his debut on the circuit. In seven seasons with the Chargers, he made four Pro Bowl appearances. He’s had 1.5 quarterback sacks and seven tackles this season.

In 2020, the Floridian became the highest-paid defensive player on the Manfred circuit by signing a five-year, $135 million pact.
