EXETER, England—Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has consolidated its lead in recent days over its rival Rishi Sunak in the race to become Britain’s next prime minister, in part by promising she can cut taxes to revive Britain’s moribund economy.
As Conservative Party members this week began the month-long process to choose a new leader to succeed Boris Johnson, polls show Ms Truss has a big advantage of between five and 34 points over Mr Sunak, l former head of the Treasury.
