Re: Poilievre slams Diagolon ‘losers’ for threatening sexual assault against his wife, online edition, September 26

Hypocrisy abounds. A man in Alberta insults and calls a Liberal woman a traitor. Tells her to leave Alberta and is condemned, and everyone is outraged.

A few morons in a live podcast are laughing and talking about the Tory leader’s wife being raped and the silence is deafening. Not a word from the Liberals, NDP or Bloc. No outrage or condemnation from anyone. What a joke the media are. He even barely mentioned that it was given to the RCMP.

All the sound of swearing and shouting, and nothing about two idiots talking about raping the Tory leader’s wife. How come we don’t talk about it?

I should know better – PP doesn’t have nice socks. He is more concerned with real issues. Sad day when people are treated so differently.

ANDY ABBOTT

HAWKESBURY

(Many of them were outraged by these comments. We don’t need empty statements from politicians.)

RED AND BLACKS PARTY PLAN

As I cobble together this letter to the editor, sweat “beads” fall on my face because I have the answer to save the Ottawa Redblacks. They need to bring two of the greatest footballing minds of all time back to the Ottawa gridiron, Bernie and Lonie Glieberman. After that, life will be Mardi Gras!

TERRY TOLL

CAMPBELL BAY, QUE.

(Good luck.)

A CBC FUNDING COMPROMISE

The CBC received approximately $1.3 billion in government grants. Pierre Poilievre wants to cut funding for the society, unlike the Liberals.

I propose a uniquely Canadian solution: compromise. I suggest that the television part of Radio-Canada receive no public funding. Canadians are well served by other television channels and the CBC-TV portion should compete with them. If he can’t survive on his own, then he has to get by.

For radio, however, it should continue to receive public funding. I suggest that CBC One (the “talking” part) respond to CBC’s mandate to reflect Canada and its regions. Some of my favorite programs are As It Happens (current interesting stories from around the world), White Coat, Black Heart (medical issues), Quirks & Quarks (scientific papers), Under the Influence (fascinating true stories), Cost of Living (d interest today), The Doc Project (Canadian stories you can’t stop thinking about) and Now or Never (Canadians making things happen). There are many others.

The radio is wonderful and instructive to listen to while engaged in other activities. There are no other radio programs about Canada and Canadians that are comparable. I find it sad that there aren’t more people listening to such wonderful shows. Public funding for this should continue.

WYNAND SEGSTRO

ORLEANS

(Only if they do a Beachcombers remake.)

RECYCLING OF TANK

Recently, Ukrainian Sgt. Andriana Arekhta gave CNN presenter Jim Acosta a coin made of molten metal from a Russian tank. This is what I call the epitome of recycling at its best.

ROBERT J. MOSKAL

WINNIPEG

(We expect a bunch of parts to hit eBay soon.)
