Lethbridge man charged with first degree murder in wife’s death


LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Police in Lethbridge, Alta., have charged a 59-year-old man with first-degree murder in the death of his wife.

David Albert Dragland is accused of repeatedly stabbing Shelley Dragland with a kitchen knife at a home in the southern Alberta town.

Police said they responded to a report of a disturbance at the home just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

There they discovered Shelley Dragland who had suffered multiple stab wounds.

As first responders tended to Dragland, the 59-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accused was arrested outside the home without incident and remains in custody.

He is due to appear in court next week.
