Between auto-tune, melancholy and cinematographic references, Laylow’s retrofuturistic universe has something to transport. A real catharsis! The Toulouse rapper explores the musical genre combining digital innovation with nostalgia for the year 2000. His first album, entitled Trinity, in reference to the character from the Matrix saga, is certified gold and platinum a few months after its release. exit. It propels the artist to the rank of a must in the French-speaking hip-hop world from 2020. His latest opus The Strange Story of Mr. Anderson, released in July 2021, counted more than 5.4 million streams in 24 hours. Laylow offers an introspective concept album, a journey through the intricacies of his mind that highlights his alter ego, Mr. Anderson. At the same time, the cinephile rapper took his first steps in the 7th art. He accompanies his musical project with a short film of the same name which he produces, directs and co-writes with Osman Mercan. Among the references summoned by the artist, we discern the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the universe of Tim Burton. We also notice the influence of hip-hop from the 2000s, Eminem and 50 Cent with the titles Window Shopper Part 1 and Part 2. Laylow has established himself on the French-speaking rap scene thanks to his creativity and versatility.
