The nights stop, bringing more opportunities to observe the wonders of the night sky. If you want to take a closer look at the moon, the planets and the objects of the deep sky without the hassle of transporting or setting up a telescope, we recommend a pair of large astronomy twins. One of our best choices, the Celestron Skymaster 15×70, is of high quality, relatively light and is Now, only $ 75 on Amazon for Prime Day – The cheapest they were all year round. Our optical editor bought them last year and uses them regularly. You will have to be fast, because there is no guarantee that they will remain so cheap after the end of the first order day tonight.
These 15x70s have a perfect balance between prices, portability and performance, treating us beautiful views of the moon, Andromeda Galaxy, Jupiter and its four Galilean moons and the Pleiades during our full review of Celestron Skymaster 15×70, where we gave them 4 stars out of 5.
Kimberley Lane
Kimberley has been examining optical equipment for over 4 years and has tested a wide range of cameras, binoculars and telescopes. Based in the south of Wales, she is a stone’s throw away from the dark sky of the Banau Brycheniog National Park, where she made the majority of her exam by the Celestron Skymaster 15×70 twins.
Although there is a chromatic aberration around brighter objects like the Moon (which is to be expected at this price), we had fun with these binoculars, and they are a fantastic option to better see the supermoons to come on November 5 and December 4 without breaking the bank.
15x magnification and large objectives of 70 mm objectives are a fantastic combination for stars, but such a high magnification, combined with their size and weight, means that they will have to be mounted on a robust tripod to avoid trembling views. Fortunately, a tripod adapter is included, alongside the lentil caps, a line, a transport case, a neck strap, a goal rag and instructions. They are waterproof, but not fog, which is good if you are caught in the rain, even if we want the opposite, given their planned use. However, we never had too much trouble with them kissing.
If their size and weight are a dealbreaker, you can always get superb portable views of the night sky with a pair of compact binoculars, but they will not have such a powerful magnification. Or, if you want to invest a little more, a pair of the best stabilized image twins will prevent Shakes with higher magnifications.
Key characteristics: 15x wrap, 70 mm objective lenses, water resistant, 18 mm eye relief, 52.5 feet (16 m) of focusing distance.
Price history: They were $ 79 on the last first order day in July, but if not, it is the cheapest that we saw all year round.
Price comparison: Amazon: $ 75.69 | Walmart: $ 109.99 | B & H: $ 109.99
Reception on consensus: By combining performance, price and portability, they are a brilliant option for beginners or anyone on a budget, and we have in fact preferred their treatment compared to the Celestron Skymaster 15×70 Pro ED.
