US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has criticized country star Zach Bryan for his anti-US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) song, “Bad News”, calling it an attack on the very people “who are just trying to make our streets safer.”

Noem told conservative commentator and podcast host Benny Johnson that she was “extremely disappointed” after listening to Bryan’s new track, adding, “I hope he understands how completely disrespectful this song is, not only to law enforcement, but to this country.”

Watch below:

“To all those who stood up and fought for our freedoms, he compromised everything by releasing a product like this – which attacks individuals who are simply trying to make our streets safer,” Noem continued.

“So, Zach, I haven’t listened to your music, I’m glad I did today. It makes me very happy, that I never gave you a single cent to enrich your lifestyle if you truly believe what this song stands for,” the former South Dakota governor added.

Noem went on to say that she was instead going to “download Jason Aldean songs, John Rich songs, Kid Rock.”

“These guys know what it means to defend freedoms,” Noem said. “So, (I’m) glad I didn’t waste money on Zach.”

Johnson then pointed out that Zach Bryan is protected by law enforcement while he performs at his concerts, adding, “It seems relatively disrespectful to go after federal law enforcement in this song.”

“Well, that’s what’s so special about law enforcement, is they don’t choose who they defend when they do their job,” Noem responded. “They will defend and protect even people who do not respect or defend them. »

Noem spoke with Johnson in Portland, Oregon, after federal agents arrested several illegal immigrants, including an accused child rapist, the podcaster noted.

The country singer posted a clip of his controversial new song targeting ICE on social media, with the caption “The fading of red, white and blue.”

Listen below:

The lyrics go on to say, “I heard the cops are here, arrogant motherfuckers, aren’t they? And ICE is gonna bust in your door, try building a house that no one builds anymore.”

In his song, Bryan goes on to portray the United States as some sort of dystopian country where children are “scared”, where music has stopped playing, and small-town bars are no longer frequented.

“The kids are all scared and alone, the bars stopped banging, the rock stopped rolling, the middle finger is coming up, and it won’t stop appearing, I got some bad news, the fading of red, white and blue,” read the lyrics to “Bad News.”

However, President Donald Trump, who led an intense campaign to combat illegal immigration, won the 2024 election in a landslide, securing not only the Electoral College, but also the popular vote and every swing state in the country – giving the 45th and 47th presidents a clear mandate from the American people to implement his agenda.
