Alley’s children announced her passing on Dec. 5 via Twitter, saying on the platform that she had died « after a recently discovered battle with cancer. »
Her son William ‘True’, 30, and daughter Lillie, 28, also hailed their late mother as « incredible, fierce and loving » in their tribute on social media.

Alley’s close friend John Travolta, 68, who starred with her in the Look who’s talking films, paid celebrity tributes to the actress following her death.
« Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had, » he wrote on Instagram. « I love you Kirstie. I know we will meet again. »
