King Charles reveals 2023 New Year honors for Queen’s Brian May and more

King Charles honors Britain’s best.

On Friday, Buckingham Palace unveiled the 2023 New Years Honors List, paying tribute to people in Britain who have shown exemplary service and achievement in their fields.

Among the more than 1,100 is Queen guitarist Brian May, who was knighted. May also played at the Queen’s Golden Jubilee earlier in 2022.

The honoree also included sports figures, such as members of the Lionesses football team, which won Euro2022 this summer.

Louenna Hood, 38, was also honored for raising thousands of people to help Ukrainian refugees.

During Queen Elizabeth’s reign, recipients of the honors were announced twice a year, at New Year’s and on her « official birthday » in June.

This is Charles’ first list since the start of his Sentiment reign.
