Kevin Hayes scores twice as Flyers end 10-game losing streak

PHILADELPHIA — Kevin Hayes scored twice as the Philadelphia Flyers ended a 10-game losing streak by defeating the New York Islanders 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Travis Sanheim also hit the mark as Lukas Sedlak assisted on two goals for the Flyers, who had won seven of their first 12 games this season before their rout.

Carter Hart made 23 saves for the Flyers, who became the first team in NHL history to post two 10-game losing streaks in the first 40 games of a season, in 2021-22.

Noah Dobson was the only scorer for the Islanders, who had just won their last four outings.

Ilya Sorokin gave up twice in 32 shots in front of the New Yorkers cage.

Hayes gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead midway through the first period, when his powerful wrist shot deceived Sorokin’s vigilance.
