California’s 2026 gubernatorial race has flown under the radar recently, overshadowed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s battles with President Donald Trump and the state’s November election.
But the contest is attracting new attention after the release of two videos showing poll frontrunner, former Rep. Katie Porter (D), displaying her short-tempered nature, first in a recent interview with a television reporter in California and then in a 2021 clip, obtained by Politico, where she told a staffer to “get out of my f***ing way” while recording an online discussion.
