Karur Stampede: Vijay de TVK contacts the families of the victims; Advocacy for the search for CBI at the Supreme Court

The politician who became an actor, Vijay, began to reach out to the families of the victims of the stampede who occurred during the rally of his TVK party in Karur du Tamil Nadu.

One of the affected families said that the founder and TVK chief connected with them by video call on the evening of Monday, October 6, reported that the PTI news agency.

“He (Vijay) called on my son -in -law and expressed his sincere condolences. He expressed his regret because of the incident and said that it should not have happened. In addition, he assured the family of his support,” said one of the parents of the victim of Stampede de Karur, PTI.

The head of the Tamilaga party Vettri Kazhagam had been criticized for not having visited the families affected by the jostling in person.

Vijay would have told another family that he was like their son. “I am like your son,” Vijay told a woman by consoling her.

Vijay asked TVK members to handle the affected families, but it is not clear if he would visit Karur to meet the victims, said PTI citing party sources.

Supreme court to hear the probe of CBI probe

On Tuesday, October 7, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea requesting an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in this area.

A bench of CJI Br Gavai and Judge K Vinod Chandran agreed to hear the advocacy of the head of the BJP Uma Anandan who challenged the ordinance of the High Court of Madras who denied for a CBI investigation.

A bench from the High Court of Madras had ordered the head of the BJP to approach the Madurai bench of the court on October 3. Another bench had also been a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the incident.

Vijay was also late by about seven hours to reach the place that increased the rally. The people present on the site complained of the lack of water and sanitation on the site which led to chaos on the site.

The jostling has cost 41 people life while leaving more than 60 injured.
