On Friday October 3, the high court of Madras ordered a constituent of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the actor’s TVK rally scholarship that became a politician Vijay in Karur on September 27. On the other hand, the petitioner who asked for the ban on road basins claimed to have received a death threat from a TVK chief.

The court ordered the SIR’s training under the main agent of the IPS, Asra Garg, who is currently the general inspector of the northern zone police, reported the PTI news agency.

The jostling has cost 41 people life while leaving more than 60 injured.

The bench of justice N Sethilkumar heard the brief petition filed in the issue and asked why Vijay was not appointed in the first information report (FIR) filed in the case.

Judge Sethilkumar also criticized TVK leaders and observed that “they had abandoned the scene of the occurrence” while not ensuring moral or legal responsibility, according to the news18.

“The court cannot close their eyes and get rid of its responsibilities,” observed the bench, adding that the TVK party has not even expressed remorse on the accident. “This shows the leader’s mental state,” added the bench.

Pil’s petitioner lights up the death threat of TVK

The petitioner who filed a public interest dispute (Pil) before the high court of Madras, requesting a ban on the Roadshows rallies, would have received a death threat from the TVK, Vinoth district secretary.

Amaravel Pandian, the petitioner’s lawyer told journalists on October 3, that this happened after the court hearing today.

“After the hearing of the court of today, a person named Vinoth, the secretary of TVK in Bhoothagudi, went directly to my client Kathrsan and threatened him with death. As soon as Kathiresan contacted me, Vinoth and the others fled the premises,” he said, PTI said.

“We have now filed a new case in front of the Madurai bench of the High Court, citing intimidation and the threat to life,” added Pandian.

The Madras’ high court bench had issued a provisional injunction prohibiting political parties from organizing public events or meetings on national and national motorways in Tamil Nadu until the standard operational procedures (SOPS) (SOPS) said, said the Anima news agency.

The prescription was adopted when hearing four Pils which sought instructions to supervise the SOPs for mass gatherings in order to prevent Karur accidents.

Noting that a similar case concerning the SOPS is in the process before the main headquarters of Madras, the judges allowed the petitioners to be put in place in this case, according to the Ani.

The government would also have assured court that no meeting would be authorized, except in the places assigned, until the SOPs are finalized.

Pleadings in search of SBI probe rejected

Another bench, hearing various petitions asking that the investigation in Karur’s stampede be heard by the Central Office of India (CBI), noted that the investigation into the Tamil Nadu police is still in the early stages and rejected the arguments.

“If injured people come to this court, we will save. Who are you treating this court as the political arena. If, in the investigation, something is wrong, you come. This is the initial stage,” said the division of judges M Dhandapani and M Jothiraman was cited by the bar and the bench.

The bench also ordered the government and political parties to ensure that drinking water and sanitation facilities are properly organized during their gatherings or meetings.

The Tamil Nadu should hold the assembly elections by the first half of 2026.
