That’s the message Vernon North Okanagan RCMP issued after patrolling Kalamalka Lake on Wednesday.
In a social media post, the RCMP detachment said seven boats were checked yesterday and a ticket was issued for a safety breach.
Police said three warnings were also issued for non-safety violations, while three boats were found to be in compliance.
“We want everyone who uses the water to have fun and be safe,” police said.
Police detachments in the southern interior of British Columbia regularly remind the public about boating safety during the summer months.

“Being on the water in a boat, the rules apply the same as on our roads and highways,” said Const. of the Kelowna RCMP. Mike Della-Paolera said at the end of June.
“We need the boat operator (to be) sober.”
