July 4: Americans feeling less patriotic, but Joey Jones urges focus on ‘incredible history and trajectory’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Ahead of July 4, Fox News’ Joey Jones reminds Americans to look beyond « fringe issues » and celebrate a common heritage. Speaking on « Fox & Friends Weekend » on Saturday, Jones argued that the solution to dwindling patriotic sentiment was for Americans to stand together and « boast about this country’s incredible history and trajectory. »

Joey Jones: Listen, be the smartest person you can be. You have a group on the left, the progressives, and their idea of nationalism, their idea of Americanism is rooted in grievance. And you have a group on the right, the conservatives, and their ideas are rooted in responsibility. And none of these groups are filled right now. If you’re a progressive, you look at the prosperity of this country and you’re like, “Yeah, it’s just because we’re oppressed. It is millennia of oppression or centuries of oppression that are the result of prosperity. If you’re on the right, you’re like, “Man, you’re attacking everything that makes us successful. These two groups are incredibly unhappy right now. The problem is, there’s so much more to this country than those two.

If you’re a conservative and you see me in the corporate – corporate media and corporate taking on wokeism and CRT and all that, what you think is it’s becoming mainstream. Like that’s what most Americans think because that’s why we see it every day. It’s going to be discouraging. If you are on the left and you see these three major Supreme Courts decisions, which attack what you think this country should be. So I’m wise on that right now. Both sides are therefore beaten down, hardened by these marginal problems that do not define us at all.

But do you know what the solution is? People like us tell the appropriate story, coming to West Point, a living, memorial museum of what it takes to fight for and have those freedoms. People like us sitting here and brag about the amazing story and the trajectory of this country. There’s nowhere else in the world where we could sit down and have this conversation and say whatever we want about our leadership. There’s nowhere else in the world where we could go out in November and change things the way we can.
