John Oliver says Queen Elizabeth II is now watching Princess Diana
Comedian John Oliver took a dig at the late Queen Elizabeth II, saying she « looks up » to the late Princess Diana.
The ‘Last Week Tonight’ host’s jokes about the late monarch’s death were recently censored by British broadcaster Sky, a move Oliver criticized.
During Sunday’s episode of his show – which won the 2022 Emmy for the Outstanding Variety Talk Series – the British comedian didn’t pass up another opportunity to take aim at the monarchy in comedy form.
In his monologue, Oliver slammed President Joe Biden for declaring the COVID-19 pandemic « over. »
Calling Biden’s announcement « irresponsible » and « complete bullshit, » Oliver said, « you can’t just declare something and make it happen. »
« If I said ‘The Queen is alive,’ that doesn’t make it true. We all know she’s in the afterlife right now watching Diana, » he said. declared.
During an appearance on « Late Night With Seth Meyers » last week, Oliver said it was « s-tty » to have his speech about the late Queen censored in his homeland.
“All we said was that Britain is still mourning this shocking loss, right? – of a 96-year-old woman of natural cause. This is literally no joke,” he said.
“Scientifically, this is no joke. It’s just a fact with some kind of asshole inflection, that’s all it is. And yet, they cut it, which is pretty ugly because apparently all we heard all week was that the queen had this amazing sense of humor.
« Just nonstop. Oh, she was so funny. Seth, she was so funny. Queen, she was razor sharp, » he added.
Her Majesty The Queen died « peacefully » on September 8. She was 96 years old.
