Joe Alwyn is determined to keep the details of his romance with Taylor Swift under wraps.
The actor, who has been dating the Grammy-winning singer for five years, refuses to divulge intimate details about the couple’s relationship.
Additionally, the 31-year-old criticized an “increasingly intrusive” culture which led to his decision to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.
Speaking to ELLE magazine, Alwyn said: ‘It’s not really [because I] I want to be kept and private, that’s more of an answer to something else.
“We live in an increasingly intrusive culture… The more you give — and frankly, even if you don’t — something will be taken,” he added.
The couple launched their romance in 2017, but rarely pounce on each other in interviews or on social media.
Alwyn previously told GQ Magazine that he values privacy.
“Someone’s private life is, by definition, private. No one is forced to share their personal life,” he said in 2018.
He also declined to name a favorite Swift song, adding, “I’m not even going to go this side of the world.”
Swift has also previously spoken about keeping their relationship private, telling The Guardian in 2019 that it’s “not up for discussion.”
The ‘Lover’ hitmaker said if she spoke to the interviewer as a friend and not on file, she would.
“But it’s just that he goes out into the world. This is where the limit is and this is where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it manageable,” she explained.
Eagle-eyed fans quickly realized that Alwyn co-wrote several songs for Swift’s “folklore” and “evermore” albums, and is credited as William Bowery.
