For the Selena star, the film acted as a bright spot in difficult times, admitting that the role was “100%” a refuge.
“It was hard not to think about certain things, but in some ways it was the best and worst of times,” she said. CBS Sunday morning in an interview broadcast on September 28, “because every moment on set and every moment I was playing that role, I was so happy. And then back home, it wasn’t great.”
The 56-year-old, who finalized her divorce from Ben in January, continued: “It was just, how do I reconcile this? But we’re getting through it. Honestly, I have to say it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
