Jean-Luc Godard, new wave filmmaker who reinvented cinema, dies at 91

PARIS — Jean-Luc Godard, the most prominent director of the French New Wave who reinvented cinema in the late 1950s and 1960s, died Tuesday. He was 91 years old.

Mr. Godard « died peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, » said his wife and the producers.
