A day after making headlines by sending quarterback Joe Flacco to their arch-rival, the Cleveland Browns were back trading with a familiar partner.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are trading cornerback Tyson Campbell and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Browns in exchange for corner Greg Newsome II and a 2026 sixth-round pick, NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday night.
The trade comes about six months after the Browns traded the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Jaguars, who quickly selected fellow cornerback — and wide receiver — Travis Hunter.
On Tuesday, the Browns traded Flacco, who had been demoted to the team’s starting quarterback position behind Dillon Gabriel, to the Cincinnati Bengals. Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry was back a day later with the Jaguars, moving Newsome, a 2021 first-round pick and starter in every game this season for the Browns.
Campbell was also a high-ranked pick, selected in the same draft at 33rd overall in the second round, just seven spots behind Newsome (26th overall).
While Newsome was drafted by Berry, Campbell was not chosen by first-year Jags general manager James Gladstone.
Newsome is entering the final season of his rookie contract, having picked up his fifth-year option and being owed $13.3 million this year. Campbell, however, signed a lofty four-year extension worth $76 million in the summer of 2024. He had a guaranteed salary of $13.1 million due in 2026, as well as a $10.5 million cap hit.
