JACKSONVILLE– The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed with the Cleveland Browns to trade CB Tyson Campbell and a seventh-round selection in the 2026 draft in exchange for CB Greg Newsome II and a sixth-round selection in the 2026 draft, pending physicals, the team announced today.
“We’re trying to win football games now and Greg helps us do that because his skill set fits perfectly with our defensive system, which gives more vision to the quarterback and will rely on Greg’s ability to find the football,” Jaguars general manager James Gladstone said. “We will continue to be aggressive to make ourselves the best team possible this season.”
Newsome was drafted in the first round (26th overall) by the Browns in 2021. His career totals include 178 tackles (140 solo), 37 passes defensed, six tackles for loss, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), two quarterback hits and 1.0 sack in 59 games (47 starts). He also appeared in a playoff game with Cleveland, producing four tackles and one pass defended.
The Chicago, Illinois native played collegiately at Northwestern University for three seasons (2018-20). Newsome played in 21 games for the Wildcats and had 71 tackles, 24 passes defensed, one interception and one fumble recovery.
