A few weeks after an aborted transfer to Norwich, CF Montreal midfielder Ismaël Koné is once again being talked about in England. The Sheffield United club would like to acquire the 20-year-old Quebecer.

English Daily Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath reported on Thursday that the youngster’s fate would be linked to that of midfielder Sander Berge, who could leave Sheffield for Club Brugge, Belgium. If the Norwegian were to leave, Koné could be an option.
The latter has a contract with CF Montreal valid until December 31. “The Guardian” journalist Fabrizio Romano indicated that an agreement would be imminent and that it could reach, with the vouchers, 5 million pounds sterling, or 7.6 million $CAN.
It would thus be a transfer as expensive, according to rumors, as that of Djordje Mihailovic, he who was acquired last week by Alkmaar Zaanstreek, in the Netherlands.
Like Norwich, Sheffield United plays in the Championship, the English second division. First in the standings, the team from the big industrial city played in the Premier League two years ago.
Koné made his professional debut in 2022, playing 22 games in all competitions, including 16 starts. He had two goals and three assists.
He also made his national team debut with Canada, playing two games in March.
