Indian cricket star Rishabh Pant injured in car crash

India international cricketer Rishabh Pant has been hospitalized after being injured in a car crash in the northern state of Uttarakhand on Friday.
State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the news on Twitter, while wishing Pant, 26, a « speedy recovery ».
The car Pant was in had collided with a splitter and burst into flames in the early hours of Friday, CNN affiliate CNN News-18 reported, citing police.
The wicket-keeper batsman is « stable and under review », according to Board of Control for Cricket in Indi (BCCI) secretary, Jay Shah.
« My thoughts and prayers are with Rishabh Pant as he fights to regain his healing, » Shah tweeted. « We are monitoring his progress closely and will provide him with all the necessary support. »
Pant has « two cuts to his forehead, a torn ligament in his right knee and also injured his right wrist, ankle, toe and suffered abrasion injuries to his back, » according to a BCCI statement.
Pant is one of India’s rising stars and was recently named a brand ambassador for his home state of Uttarakhand, according to CNN News-18.
A number of cricketers took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery.
Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting said he thought of Pant. « Hope you are recovering and recovering soon, » he wrote on Friday.
“Wishing a very speedy and full recovery to Rishabh! Take care,” Indian cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir wrote.
Harsha Bhogle, a prominent Indian cricket commentator, said he was « desperately hoping he was fine and recovering soon ».
