IMF warns of growing global risks, says UK unrest largely contained

WASHINGTON — Actions by global central banks to rapidly raise interest rates have fueled heightened risks to the financial system, the International Monetary Fund warned on Tuesday, while saying stability concerns bubbling in the UK United seem contained.

The Bank of England took action to deal with the recent turmoil in Britain’s bond and money markets for the second day in a row on Tuesday. « At this stage, we do not expect these actions to be needed in other countries, » Tobias Adrian, head of the IMF’s monetary and capital markets department, said at a press conference on Tuesday.
