I ‘thrown tennis games’ after Celtics losses

To beat Nick Kyrgios, first find a way for the Boston Celtics to lose.
In a startling or ironic admission, Kyrgios told Sports Illustrated that he missed tennis games after his favorite NBA team suffered particularly painful losses.

« I literally threw away tennis matches if they lost in double overtime, » the tennis superstar told the magazine as part of a profile posted on Friday. « If someone plays me and they know the Celtics lost, it’s [their] chance. It’s probably your best chance [to beat me]to play me that day.
The infamous Australian tennis superstar often wears Celtics jerseys and shout the team in his Twitter bio.
He didn’t provide examples of matches he threw, but his emotions very clearly and publicly affected his tennis. Kyrgios recently made headlines for loudly complaining about a fan who must have had « 700 drinks » during his Wimbledon final last month against Novak Djokovic.
That fan – Polish lawyer Anna Palus – is now suing him for defamation.
Kyrgios will next be seen at the US Open, where he is ranked No. 23 and will begin his quest for his maiden Grand Slam title on Monday night against Thanasi Kokkinakis. Unfortunately for Kokkinakis, the Celtics still have over a month into their offseason.
