Hytale Patch Notes – Update 1 – Hytale

Welcome to Hytale’s first update! Today we are releasing new content as well as a series of fixes and quality of life improvements. We are committed to maintaining a rapid update cadence to resolve issues and improve the game as quickly as possible.

World & Environment

  • Added dinosaurs and other NPCs to populate underground jungles. They currently use placeholder behaviors and are a work in progress.

NOTE: These new NPCs required a change to the environment in the biome, so you will need to generate new unexplored areas to see them.

  • Sewers in the Wasteland now have appropriate atmospheric effects and creature spawns.
  • Areas under volcanoes now use volcanic environmental effects.
  • Fixed entity placements, textures and interiors in Feran villages.
  • Removed an invisible filler block behind the Forgotten Temple bench.

NPCs and creatures

  • Added knockback resistance for NPCs who didn’t have it before.
  • Fire-themed NPCs and creatures should now be immune to fire damage. However, they will still catch fire for now.
  • The Crystal Earth Golem’s combat behavior and spinning attack have been improved.
  • Skeletons should no longer take damage from drowning.
  • Kweebecs should now be immune to environmental damage caused by cacti and brambles.
  • Replaced the Trork Shaman placeholder summon animation.
  • Added appropriate loot tables for Kweebecs and Trorks in Whisperfrost Borders.
  • Livestock should no longer climb onto the henhouse.
  • Cautious wildlife predators, such as the fox, should no longer engage players unless attacked.

Crafts, objects and agriculture

  • The backpack and its upgrades are now easier to obtain: the basic backpack now requires a level 1 workbench (instead of level 2).
  • Base backpack cost reduced to 8 Medium Hides (was 16).
  • The first backpack upgrade now requires a level 2 workbench (instead of level 3).
  • Light, Medium, and Heavy hides now take 10 seconds less to turn into leather.
  • Crafting Benches can now extract materials from chests within 14 blocks horizontally (instead of 7) and 6 blocks vertically (instead of 4).
  • Processing Benches now display tooltips on items in the Upgrade Requirements panel.
  • All raw fruits and vegetables should now only grant health regeneration I. Cooking them grants additional benefits.
  • Dropped items should no longer get stuck on the side of blocks.
  • Torches and other portable light sources can now be placed on the ground when equipped in the utility slot while wielding a pickaxe or hatchet.
  • Pickaxes and hatchets are now only swung when using the main action.
  • Corn now gives 1 Life Essence instead of 4 when traded on the crop bench, as it was previously poorly configured, making it better than higher tier crops.
  • Fully grown cauliflower and pumpkin no longer drop normal seeds when broken by hand or tool.
  • Fully growing Eternal Crops no longer drop Eternal Seeds when broken by hand or any tool.
  • Wood logs now display their respective “wood type”.
  • Example: Oak Log will display “Hardwood” in its tooltip.
  • Where a crafting recipe previously required a ‘Chest’ type, it now correctly displays as ‘Journal’.
  • Example: “Hardwood Trunk” is displayed as “Hardwood Log” in the recipe requirements.
  • When a crafting recipe requires a specific log type (like hardwood), the tooltip now displays which trees can drop that log type.
  • Example: “Softwood Log” will display “Banyan, Beech and Aspen” in its tooltip.
  • The lumberjack block no longer displays the “Developer” item quality, and no longer interacts with the unused processing bench. This is now a decorative furniture block that can also be crafted in the furniture bench.

Audio and visual effects

  • New hitting and breaking sounds for stone.
  • New hit and break sounds for ores with additional layered effects.
  • Horses now correctly make running sounds when mounted.
  • Torch burn loop replaced with softer ambient sound.
  • Adjusted volumes for cocoon breaking, pig, piglet and warthog sounds.
  • Reduced height variation during sword swings.
  • Added new ore breaker particles.
  • Added fruit eating particles. More to come later for other types of foods.
  • A new particle effect now appears above an NPC’s head when absorbing their memory.
  • Health potion visual effects updated with new sparkling, glowing, spiraling particles.
  • Fixed rope offset when held in hand.
  • Fixed hand positioning for various plants, flowers and foliage.

User interface, performance and quality of life

  • You can now sleep from 7:30 p.m.
  • Added an information panel explaining the memories system when first interacting with The Heart of Orbis. Can be viewed again by clicking on the ‘?’ in the upper left corner of the Memories user interface.
  • Switching to full screen, changing HUD, and taking a screenshot can no longer be tied to mouse buttons.
  • The game now warns when launching preview builds or opening worlds from different builds.
  • The field of vision while sprinting is now limited to 160° to avoid the hyper-drive effect.
  • Undiscovery of LAN server now works correctly.
  • The interaction system now better handles server lag spikes.

Character customization

  • New eye types: cat’s eye, demon eyes, goat’s eye, reptile’s eye.
  • New mouth options: large mouth, small lips.
  • New hair color: Lavender.
  • Bangs hairstyle reworked and lightened dark brown color.
  • Featherbound Hood now displays correctly for the Supporter Edition.

Combat and balance

  • Weapon attacks should now check line of sight.
  • The normal burn effect now generally deals less damage. The burn applied by the lava remains unchanged.
  • Cacti and brambles now deal environmental damage.

Orders and server

  • Fixed argument order for teleport commands. /tp
  • The Give command now supports specifying item durability.
  • Whitelist and ban commands now support online usernames and offline UUIDs.
  • The server now uses “Bottleneck Bandwidth and Round Trip Delay” (BBR) congestion control for QUIC.
  • Improved handling of authentication and session token errors.

Bug fixes and stability

  • Fixed a misconfiguration that caused weapon-charged attacks to not properly consume stamina when switching to another hotbar slot at the correct time.
  • Fixed ready to sign sound not playing correctly in Adventure Mode.
  • Fixed regular expression parsing in the /replace command.
  • Fixed an issue where Signature Attacks could be used without Signature Energy.
  • Fixed some items allowing longer interaction ranges than intended.
  • Fixed fluid flow behavior when stacking water sources.
  • Fixed crash when using non-English folder names for screenshots.
  • Fixed a crash when selecting certain hairstyles with variations.
  • Fixed a crash caused by corrupted cached avatar previews.
  • Fixed a crash when the memories plugin does not load.
  • Fixed an issue where Memento Restoration rewards were granted too early and did not correspond to the correct number of Mementos required.
  • Fixed “waiting for chunks” taking too long at view distance <128.
  • Fixed crash when updating player model.
  • Fixed a localization loop affecting Norwegian-speaking users.
  • Fixed a race condition in Instance Teleport that was causing entities to be removed and re-added issues.
  • Fixed session refresh for single player servers.
  • Fixed various crop growth issues where certain crops like tomatoes were not growing properly. Songs are now saved when updating a farming block.
