Huntsville, ala. (WHNT) – The Huntsville police department (HPD) requests comments from residents while continuing the reaction of the accreditation committee for law enforcement organizations (Calea).
Residents can share their comments via Calea online Public comments portalwhich is designed to collect comments on the provision of public security services by HPD, community engagement, professionalism and overall performance.
Comments may include praise as well as concerns and will be examined by Calea as part of its evaluation.
“HPD endeavors to respect and go beyond the Calea accreditation standards,” said HPD chief Kirk Giles. “Thanks to this process, our department has strengthened its training, improved policies and implemented practices that allow us to better protect and serve the inhabitants of Huntsville.”
HPD first won the Calea accreditation in 1996 and has managed to maintain this status since then. Accreditation is considered to be the gold standard of public security, which means that a agency constantly meets the best rigorous and recognized practices nationally in the police.
