HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Havoc began training camp Tuesday morning at the Huntsville Ice Sports Center.
The team practiced for a little over two hours, focusing primarily on fundamentals and setting the stage for this year’s team.
Huntsville is looking to bounce back after finishing second in the SPHL regular season a year ago but being bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
Havoc head coach Stuart Stefan says it was exciting to be back on the ice with the team.
“The first day went pretty good, again excited to get back on the ice, a little shorthanded right now, but I think the guys worked really hard today,” Stefan said. “Obviously I saw a lot of nerves there too, but the one thing I really like is just the attitude, really good attitude, the guys were working hard.”
The Havoc will get three more training camp practices before facing the Pensacola Ice Flyers in an exhibition game Saturday. The team begins the regular season on the road against the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs on October 17.
