Cinematographer « Black Adam » Lawrence Sher spoke with The Hollywood ReporterThe « Behind the Screen » podcast about how the filmmakers managed to pull off the top-secret cameo without anyone finding out, revealing it was a last-minute addition to the film. In fact, he revealed that Johnson’s part of the scene was filmed even before Cavill agreed to reprise the role.
According to Scher, « Black Adam » director Jaume Collet-Serra approached him very late in production to explain the addition scene, which was not in the script.

« Let’s quickly take this throne room set that we were working in… We’re going to create something that Dwayne can get into… And we’re going to shoot it in about 10 minutes, » Scher recalled, telling him the director.
