CONTINETTI: For 30 years, the crime gave advantage to Republicans in a national political context. Of course, … the impacts of crime are felt at the local level, at the municipal level. But politically, this has great national consequences. And so what we see as an increase in crime – as an increase in violent crime – Republicans are reaping the benefits. And I would also say, also, of course, it’s liberal policies who are creating this crime wave, whether it’s about incarceration, whether it’s about the police, whether it’s about drug addiction, whether it’s about homelessness. All this creates a crisis in the cities. And even if there aren’t many Republicans in the cities, Republicans will benefit nationwide.
