As the temperatures drop, it can be easy to start reminiscing about the hot days of summer.

The Margaritaville Cap Cana Island Reserve in the Dominican Republic is the newest of Jimmy Buffett’s resorts in the world, and it appears to be designed for laid-back luxury.

Located on the white sands of Jaunillo Beach and a quick flight from many US cities, it’s a 20-minute drive from Punta Cana International Airport to the resort.

Margaritaville Cap Cana Island All-Inclusive Reserve is rated 4.5 out of 5 – or « Excellent » on TripAdvisor.

From the 5 o’Clock Somewhere bar to the St. Somewhere spa to the LandShark brasserie, the theme is all Buffett — complete with free flip flops.

The resort, owned by the Karisma brand, is home to 10 restaurants and five bars, including the only LandShark Brewery and Grill outside of the United States.

There’s also a steakhouse named after Buffett himself, as well as Frank & Lola’s Italian Trattoria (back from their second honeymoon in Pensacola) and RumRunners, among others.

Room service is available 24 hours a day.

There are three pools and 519 suites, including 40 villas.

Located on the top floor of the resort’s main building, Margaritaville Island Reserve’s signature suite costs around $8,000 per night and can sleep three adults or two adults and two children.
