Homan knocked out of PointsBet Invitational in button draw

Third-seeded Rachel Homan’s team was eliminated from the PointsBet Invitational on Friday after losing a 7-6 decision to sixth-seeded Kristie Moore.

Moore, replacing absent captain Casey Scheidegger, scored two in the ninth end and held Homan to a single in the 10th.

Since traditional extra ends aren’t used at this event, Moore sealed the win by finding the rings with his button draw after Homan’s throw ran out of paint.

Second seed Kaitlyn Lawes also advanced to the last four of the knockout competition by defeating No. 10 Penny Barker 9-4.
