Health officials report five more deaths related to COVID-19 in New Brunswick


FREDERICTON – New Brunswick health officials are reporting five more deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus.

There have now been 438 COVID-19 related deaths in the province since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report from July 10 to July 16 says 22 people have been hospitalized with the disease, an increase of five from the previous week.

There was one patient in intensive care, down one from the previous week.

People between the ages of 70 and 90 made up the majority of COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the province.

About 57% of new reported cases involve the BA.5 variant.
