Halsey reflects on life before her 28th birthday.
The musician shared a candid Instagram post, wondering if they had made the right decisions over the past decade.
Halsey wrote on their Instagram Story, “I find there is often a deep sadness within me that no worldly pleasure can touch, a loneliness, an emptiness.
“I often wonder if I chose the wrong life for myself. And its weight is suffocating. own self-hatred,” they added, according to E ! New.
Ahead of their birthday, September 29, they said they were “exhaling and gasping for air for the first time since I took a single breath into this new life at 18”.

Halsey continued, “I wander lawlessly and hope to find my way to a meaningful place soon so I can give you the courage I’ve always known to put plenty in your ears.
“They’ve been shrinking lately. If you can’t be nice, at least be gentle. With love.”
Halsey has battled several health issues over the years, including bipolar disorder, which they’ve been open about.

The hitmaker, who shares 14-month-old son Ender with boyfriend Alev Aydin, regularly updates fans on what they’ve been through.
They shared in May: “Obviously my health has changed a lot since I got pregnant and gave birth. I started getting really, really, really sick…I was hospitalized with anaphylaxis a few times and I had other stuff going on.
The singer said at the time: “Basically, after seeing 100,000 doctors, I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, POTS (syndrome postural orthostatic tachycardia) and I’m still looking for answers to the root cause of some of these things.
