President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Devvrat to discharge the duties of Governor of Maharashtra, in addition to his own responsibilities, according to a statement from the President’s office.
“Following the resignation from the post of Governor of Maharashtra by CP Radhakrishnan in view of his election as Vice President of India, the President of India has appointed Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, to serve as Governor of Maharashtra, in addition to his own duties,” the President’s Office statement on September 11 said.
Radhakrishnan to take oath as new vice president
Radhakrishnan won the vice-presidential election on Tuesday September 9 and is expected to be sworn in as the new Vice President of India on Friday September 12.

Previously, he served as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Radhakrishnan was the ruling party-NDA candidate for the post of vice president and won with a margin of 152 votes, against INDIA B bloc candidate Sudershan Reddy.
The vice president elections were held on September 9, after former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post on July 21, citing health reasons.
